Dukes Emergency Procedures

IPSC-In an emergency situation involving a cardiac arrest the best way to get the attention of the arena staff is to;

  1. Contact arena staff with the 2-way radio that is found in the penalty box or,
  2. If no radio is available pull the fire alarm (see locations listed below) which will bring them running to provide assistance. They will have notified 911 and will bring a heart defibrillator.
  3. Lastly there are two defibrillators found in the hallway across from the entrance to rink 4 or at the office counter. Pull the defibrillator from its case (this calls 911).

McKinney- In an emergency situation involving a cardiac arrest the best way to get the attention of the arena staff and call 911 is to;

  1. Contact arena staff with the 2-way radio that is found in the penalty box.
    OR
  2. Pull the defibrillator from its case (this calls 911) just outside of the entrance to rink 1 in the lobby.

The actions are listed in priority with what is felt to be the most expedient. It must be noted that every situation is different and with time being the most important consideration individuals are urged to take the quickest course of action.

Unfortunately the fire alarms are not in consistent locations from rink to rink at IPSC.
Rink 1 in the hallway adjacent to the players benches and penalty boxes.
Rink 2 behind the players benches.
Rink 3 near the exit doors.
Rink 4 in the hallway on the south side of the rink and across the hall from the north entrance doors.
Rink 5 & 6 near the outside emergency exit doors.
It's best if you familiarize yourself with the locations of the fire alarms.

For other medical emergencies if you are calling 911 it's important to give the address of Iroquois Park Sports Centre or McKinney Centre as;
500 Victoria St W.
Whitby, ON
OR
222 McKinney Drive
Whitby, ON
Follow this up by immediately informing arena staff that 911 has been called.
